Dowshan Humzah is an independent director with a portfolio of board, advisory and consultancy roles. He specialises in business transformation, digital change and ‘access to opportunity’ and holds a number of Non-Executive board positions such as Director of Board Apprentice Global and Chair of its UK Advisory Board,has been a Trustee of the MS Society and part of the Steering Board for 50:50 Parliament. As an Executive, he delivered growth and innovation having held senior roles with RSA Insurance, Virgin Media, Orange, Procter & Gamble and four start-ups. His projects have been characterised by his belief in not what technology could do, but what it ought to do for all people and application of behavioural science.
Dowshan’s background and journey explain his passion for ‘access to opportunity’ for those under-estimated, which he has furthered through his work with Government and across civil society. He has ensured that Board Apprentice is in the unique position of being highlighted in three separate reviews to improve board quality through diversity (including the Government's Hampton-Alexander Review for Women on FTSE boards). In addition, he is known for developing diversity of POETS (Perspective, Outlook, Experience, Thought, Sector and Social Background) as an organisational imperative.
